(Gen) AI Engineer

About the challenge

Colruyt Group shifts up a gear in Artificial Intelligence. We are currently building a central AI platform from Cronos that will form the backbone for innovation across the organization. In addition, we roll out concrete AI and GenAI-use cases in no less than 7 different business areas — from Supply Chain and IT to Marketing and Customer Service.

As a (Gen) AI Engineer you will not end up in an ivory tower. You help build a scalable foundation and you see your code directly impacting the operational functioning of one of the largest retailers in the country.

What are you going to do?

The range of tasks is wide and varied, with a strong focus on Generative AI. We are looking for someone to cover the following domains:
Platform & Scaling: Help set up, draw out and scale the central AI platform in the cloud (mainly Azure).
Use Case Delivery: Design, develop and deliver in production together with the business use cases.
Data & Knowledge: Smart use of unstructured data by using a.o. Vector Stores and Knowledge Graphs.
Agentic AI: Designing, building, running and supporting AI agents (design-build-run support), including LLM management and orchestration.
Operational Excellence: Ensure that the system remains scalable and efficient through MLOps, setting up an LLM Gateway, LLM Observability and FinOps (cost-conscious cloud management).

Who are we looking for?

You have demonstrable experience as an Engineer within the AI / Machine Learning domain, with a strong passion for or specialization in Generative AI.
You are pragmatic: you build systems that not only work on paper, but are also scalable in production.
Experience with Azure and modern GenAI frameworks is an absolute asset.
