Senior Python Developer Position

Start Date: Asap

Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension

Work Regime: Full-time preferred; 4/5th possible for exceptional candidates

Office Location: Mechelen

Fixed Office Days: Tuesday and Friday (minimum 2 days onsite, depending on business needs)

Required Languages: English (mandatory), Dutch (nice to have)

Role Description:

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our Network Automation team within the Network Service Operations department. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of orchestration and inventory platforms that support network automation and cognitive operations. This role requires a proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with both greenfield and legacy systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance our network orchestration platform using Python.
• Collaborate with peer teams to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance.
• Coach and mentor colleagues to help them implement their use cases effectively.
• Ensure high-quality code and best practices in software development.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• 4–5 years of experience in a similar role (flexible for strong candidates with relevant experience)
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to take initiative and contribute to requirement refinement
• Comfortable working in a large, complex codebase and navigating legacy systems
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira

Must Have Skills:

• Proficiency in Python (including pytest, Flask, OpenAPI, design patterns, packaging, dependency management)
• Experience with MongoDB, GraphDB
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with software development best practices and collaborative coding

Nice to Have Skills:

• Knowledge of Ansible, AWS, Terraform
• Familiarity with Jira and Typescript
• Background in networking technologies or telecom environments
• Experience with code refactoring and maintaining large-scale systems
