V-IT is looking for an AI Engineer/Data Scientist for a client in East-Flanders.

Role Overview
As a AI Engineer / Data Scientist, you will:

• Develop AI solutions from concept to deployment
• Engage in classification, forecasting, NLP, and logistics optimization
• Contribute to R&D on generative AI and large language models (LLMs)
• Build practical solutions with direct impact on digital services

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deploy machine learning models in Databricks (using PySpark, MLflow)
• Design and test models for classification, prediction, NLP, and optimization use cases
• Apply LLMs and generative AI to use cases such as document processing and semantic classification
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and product teams to deliver AI-powered features
• Ensure model monitoring, validation, and lifecycle management within production pipelines

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of applied experience in machine learning or data science
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn); PySpark experience is advantageous
• Familiarity with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face) and real-world application of foundation models
• Experience with Databricks, MLflow, and cloud model deployment
• Business-minded approach with awareness of practical constraints and impact
• Interest or background in logistics or regulatory-sensitive data environments
