Medior Data Scientist

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement advanced methods for tracking implicit reactions to the imbalance price.
- Utilize data analytics, machine learning models, and other quantitative approaches to understand and predict energy usage patterns.
- Design algorithms to accurately capture the dynamics of implicit flexibility, providing actionable insights for optimizing energy consumption.
- Develop reliable tracking mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of implicit flexibility strategies, guide policy decisions, and improve system operations.
- Gather information on available flexibility through various channels such as desktop research, interviews, data analysis, and estimation methods.
- Conduct data analyses to determine the relationship between renewable energy forecasts, price information, market player behavior, and system imbalances.
- Connect various elements to get a comprehensive view of installed, available, and effectively activated flexibility in the system.
- Disseminate results internally and connect possible applications for different departments.
- Participate in other related activities within the 'implicit flexibility' team as needed.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Python programming.
- Strong quantitative skills and a strong analytical mind.
- Ability to translate questions into quantitative analyses or approaches.
- Strongly driven by facts and figures, with the ability to support reasoning using quantitative results.
- Sufficient knowledge and experience in statistical methods (e.g., machine learning) to perform analysis on large data sets.
- Preferably understand the global workings of the energy market with several years of experience in the electricity market.
- Ability to combine different types of tasks (from operational to conceptual) and organize autonomously.
- Quick learner with a proactive and positive attitude.
- Focus on details without losing sight of the overall picture and deliver flawless work.
- Ability to take steering action within a project, with a view to concrete implementation.
- Fluent in English, both orally and in writing. Preferably fluent in Dutch and/or French.
- Teamwork-oriented, results-driven, and problem-solving skills.
