Service Description:
The Datacom team is responsible for providing a reliable and fault-tolerant communication network. This includes managing fixed and satellite telephony, internet and WiFi connectivity, network security, and various telecommunications platforms that support remote operation and monitoring of high-voltage substations, data collection, physical security, and communication with partner companies.
Responsibilities:
- Front Desk Operator Role:
- Manage mailbox and calls: intake calls, respond to emails, take actions, and follow up on small tasks, dispatch longer or more complex tasks.
- Supervise Datacom networks: consult and verify information and alarms from management systems and network nodes across various technologies (PDH, SDH, DWDM, VOIP, IP/MPLS, substation LAN).
- Level 1 Incident Management: troubleshoot and correlate events, implement work-around solutions, dispatch incidents to technicians or higher-level support if necessary.
- Handle configuration changes or standard change requests: act as a single point of contact for Datacom requests, implement configuration changes, and collaborate with colleagues.
- Support planned works execution: perform checks, follow up on works by subcontractors, implement configuration changes, and restore the network to its original state if needed.
- Back Office Role:
- Support planning of fiber interventions: collect and follow up on planning inputs, align daily planning between customers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Prepare for planned works: gather necessary information, conduct impact analysis, act as a single point of contact, investigate redundancy mechanisms, and implement them if needed.
- Level 2 operations: manage incidents dispatched by the front office, follow up with technicians and vendors.
- Project Management: support infrastructure projects, act as a project engineer for DTNOC projects, and manage service delivery for Datacom projects.
- Participate in network improvement projects, share knowledge through training and documentation, maintain inventories, and contribute to operation and maintenance improvements.
Requirements:
- Fluent in Dutch or French, with a good knowledge of the other language.
- Excellent working knowledge of English is essential.
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, ICT, or telecommunications, or equivalent technical experience.
- A few years of experience as a Helpdesk officer or Network Operations Support.
- Comprehensive practical and operational knowledge of modern LAN and WAN networks and their management (PDH, SDH, DWDM, Ethernet, IP/MPLS, VOIP).
- Motivated to continuously refine and broaden technical knowledge of Datacom networks.
- Ability to work independently, methodically, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong sense of responsibility and risk assessment skills.
- Customer-oriented, able to handle stress, flexible, and approachable.
- Capable of working in a complex organizational environment and managing different network environments and tools.
- Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues, departments, suppliers, and service providers.
