Role Description:
The ESG Data Manager will lead an improvement program aimed at enhancing the quality, consistency, and usability of GHG financed emissions data. The project focuses on developing a benchmarking methodology using public data sources and internal datasets to estimate emissions per sector, initially targeting real estate and agriculture.
Responsibilities:
- Agree on program objectives with management and stakeholders.
- Represent the client's and organization's interests.
- Design the overall improvement program approach and roadmap for the GHG Financed Emissions improvement initiative.
- Lead the development of benchmarking methodologies and algorithms for sector-level emission estimation.
- Coordinate Proofs of Concept (PoCs) projects in collaboration with the Data department, Risk, and Business stakeholders.
- Identify and document data gaps and process limitations for sector-wide implementation.
- Ensure alignment with experts locally and at Group level to embed the project within broader frameworks and standards.
- Align and re-align IT priorities related to the financed emissions data workstream.
- Integrate relevant regulatory and reporting requirements into the project’s design.
- Contribute to the sustainability strategy team, occasionally taking ownership of related topics.
- Monitor project progress and manage cross-project dependencies, risks, and issues.
- Report to line management and stakeholders.
- Adhere to policies and procedures defined by Compliance, Permanent Control, and Operational Risk.
Language Requirements:
- Dutch: Sufficiently proficient
- French: Sufficiently proficient
- English: Strong written and spoken communication skills
Education:
Bachelor or Master degree
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of GHG accounting (Scopes 1–3) and financed emissions methodologies.
- Familiarity with ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks.
- Solid experience with data analysis and modeling techniques for emission estimation.
- Knowledge of sectoral benchmarks and public data sources.
- Understanding of banking portfolios, lending data, and risk analysis is a plus.
- Experience working with data science teams or developing PoCs.
- Strong skills in data interpretation, documentation, and governance.
Business Experience:
- Proven experience in managing complex projects or a program of projects.
- Very good knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
- Strong organizational insight.
- Familiarity with various IT systems is preferable.
