Sustainability Expert 

For a client, we are seeking an experienced Sustainability Expert to join a Sustainability Program Office temporarily during a maternity leave.

Duration:

Approximately 6.5 months

Work Schedule:

Full-time with 2 to 3 office days per week

Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation of planned environmental sustainability initiatives with business leads.
• Identify new sustainability opportunities and develop business cases.
• Support teams in embedding environmental targets into daily operations.
• Provide internal performance reports and advise on improvement actions.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment and buy-in.
• Contribute to strategic sustainability planning and supplier engagement.
• Assess maturity levels of different teams and tailor approaches accordingly.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Education: Relevant academic background (e.g., Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Strategy) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in sustainability project management or ESG consulting.
• Strong expertise in environmental sustainability.
• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks, regulations, and reporting standards.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver results.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Must-Have Skills:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in sustainability or ESG.
• Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, regulations, and reporting standards, with a strong expertise in environmental sustainability.
• Resilience, strong communication, and excellent stakeholder management.
• Strong project management capabilities.
• Ability to assess and influence business teams.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Background in strategic business enablement.
• Experience with internal sustainability training and change management.
