For 1 of our clients we are looking for a System Engineer (Domain Expert)
Company/ Mission description: The IT Infrastructure department is looking for a System Engineer (Domain Expert). This candidate will be part of the application team, which is responsible for not only the deployment of all in-house developed applications running in acceptance & production but also for managing system architecture, capacity planning, and performance tuning of core shared applications and middleware to support those applications (like Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, etc.). We need foremost expertise in Windows deployment strategies. However, as some applications are deployed on various Linux distributions and cloud environments, the team would appreciate expanded expertise (or at least an understanding) in Linux deployment strategies, as well as hybrid cloud implementation techniques. We are looking for a profile who already possesses a strong understanding of system support and architectures and is eager to learn quickly the specifics of the infrastructure.
Service description:
Deploy, and manage the infrastructure for in-house developed applications in acceptance & production environments (including Windows IIS & SQL based systems)
Participate in the design and architectural discussions for the deployment of new applications: analyse requirements, drive the design, and oversee the setup/deployment of all applications in acceptance and production environments
Interface with technical clients to clarify or gather the specifics of their requests and provide solutions.
Provide escalated troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system issues.
Configuration of F5 load balancing VIPs for web applications and overall system performance optimization.
Supporting implementations on core applications: RabbitMQ, Redis Cache, and other shared technologies – extensive knowledge of these products is essential.
Ensure optimal 2nd/3rd level support (interface to Microsoft and other 3rd parties) as well as documentation for system architectures.
Keep operational policies and installation documentation for the above areas up to date.
Be part of the duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks) in this team.
Requirements:
You are able to speak, read and write fluently English and French or Dutch. English is mandatory for technical documentation and international meetings.
Proven recent experience in system administration and support on Windows Server (2012-2022) (deploy an application, verify logs, monitor health and performance of complex systems.
Knowledge of Linux distributions (preferably RedHat) is a plus
Proven knowledge of IIS management, web site deployments, and overall system integration.
Knowledge of PowerShell and scripting for both Windows and Linux environments (Bash/Python).
In-depth knowledge of MS-SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, NEO4J or Redis Cache is a plus (onsite coaching/training will be provided for any lacking expertise).
Strong understanding of network protocols, VLANs, DNS, proxies, firewalls, and network load balancing (specific product knowledge will be provided).
Strong understanding of security: passwords, cyphers, secret keys, TLS/SSL protocols and other ways of encryption.
Team-oriented, yet capable of working independently.
Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying problems in complex system architectures.
Able to analyze stakeholder requests, understand their implications, devise possible solutions and evaluate them
Identify potential risks and challenges with stakeholder requests, as well as ways to mitigate them
Strategic mindset with a strong stakeholder focus.
Must be able and eager to learn new products or technologies (mastery of new technologies is expected within one year)
Must be able to transfer knowledge and experience to the rest of the team
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Workplace will be Brussels (Schaerbeek), with occasional travel to Berlin (all travel expenses covered);
Must be available for duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks)
Must possess a driver’s license and car (required for the duty role) and have access to a mobile phone.
