Solution Architect - Data Platform Senior Specialist

Location: Brussel (Hybrid)

Objectives:

1. Draft the SBB (Solution Building Blocks) Architecture Design:
   • Develop a method for building complex systems by breaking them into smaller, modular components or "building blocks" that represent specific technologies.
   • Implement the SBB as a concrete realization of the more abstract ABB (Architecture Building Blocks), which has already been drafted and should be used as a pattern for the SBB.
   • Determine the technology direction for a modern data platform.
2. Become the “Memory” of the Data Platform:
   • Bridge the gap between business needs and the implementation and maintenance of the platform.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and integrate the ABB.
• Collect detailed technical requirements from stakeholders.
• Specify products and components for implementing functionalities.
• Conduct technology watch and maintain product and vendor awareness.
• Review and assess the current IT landscape, including shadow IT.
• Define the implementation process for functionalities.
• Map the SBB to the IT topology and operational policies.
• Detail performance expectations and configurability options.
• Ensure a cost-efficient approach in a funding-constrained sector.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Objective and pragmatic approach based on needs, requirements, and budget.
• Proven experience as a solution architect in data platform infrastructure and network.
• Sound knowledge of software, middleware, hardware, networks, security, data protection, and other components of a cohesive data platform.
• Technology agnostic with experience in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid solutions.
• Familiarity with open source versus commercial solutions.
• Autonomous and proactive.

Language Proficiency:

• English: Active knowledge, spoken and written.
• Dutch: Active knowledge.
• French: Active knowledge.
