Security Engineer

The Security Engineer supports the design, implementation, and optimization of the Qualys Vulnerability Management, Detection & Response (VMDR) platform. The role combines technical expertise with security governance insights and ensures a structured and risk-based approach to vulnerability management within the environment.

Responsibilities

• Deploying and configuring the Qualys VMDR platform across the various environments of the organization
• Creating and maintaining a technical runbook for the deployment, configuration, and operational functioning of Qualys VMDR
• Developing procedures and work instructions for:
  o Deployment of agents and sensors
  o Vulnerability scanning and re-scans
  o Interpretation and validation of findings
  o Remediation follow-up and escalation
  o Periodic reporting
• Setting up Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) aligned with roles and responsibilities (security, IT operations, management, external partners)
• Configuring dashboards and reports tailored to different target groups and departments
• Aligning dashboards and reporting with the various environments and asset groups
• Delivering training and knowledge transfer to operational teams, with a focus on daily use, interpretation of results, and vulnerability follow-up
• Supervising the handover to operational management, including support during the initial run phase
• Documenting the final configuration and agreements for further management and optimization

Experience

• Experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, or infrastructure security
• Demonstrable experience with Qualys VMDR (implementation and operational use)
• Experience with complex IT environments (hybrid, cloud, enterprise)
• Practical knowledge of:
  o Operating systems (Windows, Linux)
  o Networks and firewalling
  o Cloud platforms
• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., ISO 27001, NIS2, SOC2, …) is an asset
