Scrum Master Job Description

Job Title: Scrum Master

Location: Brussels

Mission Context:

The Scrum Master is a pivotal role within a squad operating under an agile framework, specifically the Scrum methodology. The individual will ensure the squad's comprehensive understanding of the methodology and assist the team in maximizing project outcomes. The Scrum Master will shield the team from internal and external distractions and ensure the proper application of Agile Methodology, coaching the squad alongside business lines and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and facilitate Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-up, Sprint Review, Sprint Planning, Retrospective) and other meetings.
  • Schedule and monitor key steps of the methodology.
  • Ensure smooth use of the Scrum methodology and assist the Project Team in overcoming obstacles.
  • Provide support concerning the Product Backlog.
  • Assist the team in delivering the Definition of Done (DoD), Sprint Backlog, etc.
  • Track team capacity and velocity metrics for planning and progress.
  • Ensure consistency of backlog in Jira.

Project Methodology:

  • Assist the Project Team in overcoming difficulties and promote self-organization.
  • Remove barriers to team effectiveness and protect the team from distractions.
  • Manage risks and issues.

Language Requirements:

  • Dutch/French: Fluent
  • English: Fluent

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Scrum Master Certification.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Mandatory technical experience with agile reporting and follow-up tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Understanding of automated unit testing, automated functional testing, and continuous integration tooling.
  • Sound knowledge of software development and project management methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge of agile methodology and techniques; agile mindset and coaching experience.
  • Banking experience is preferable.

Agile Requirements:

Agile teams are cross-functional, with all required disciplines represented (analysis, development, testing, etc.). Team members are expected to take on various roles to achieve the sprint goal.

Work Arrangement:

50% on-site and 50% homeworking.
