Role Description:

The Scrum Master is pivotal in projects utilizing an agile framework, specifically the Scrum methodology. The role involves ensuring the project team comprehends the methodology and maximizes project outcomes. The Scrum Master protects the team from distractions and ensures the proper application of Agile Methodology, coaching the project team, business lines, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and facilitate Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-up, Sprint Review, Sprint Planning, Retrospective) and other meetings.
• Schedule and follow key steps of the methodology.
• Ensure smooth use of the Scrum methodology and assist the project team in overcoming obstacles.
• Provide support to the Product Owner concerning the Product Backlog.
• Assist the squad in delivering the Definition of Done (DoD), Sprint Backlog, etc.
• Track squad capacity and velocity metrics for planning and progress purposes.
• Ensure agile techniques used by the squad are efficient, understood, and enacted.
• Serve as a servant-leader for the squad, shielding them from interruptions.
• Define and update the Squad Strategy with squad members.
• Coach, challenge, and protect the squad.
• Track squad capacity and velocity metrics for planning and improvement purposes.
• Sponsor continuous improvement by identifying related tasks and focusing on smooth acceptance and delivery by the squad.
• Resolve squad-level impediments (risks, issues, etc.).
• Maintain relationships with third-party providers in collaboration with Cluster SM and Asset Management, when applicable.

Language Requirements:

• Dutch
• French knowledge is a real plus
• English: Sound knowledge of English as well as (at least) one local language.

Agile Requirements:

Agile squads are cross-functional, with all required disciplines represented (analysis, development, testing, etc.). Squad members are expected to take on other roles and contribute to other disciplines to achieve the sprint goal.

Required Experience/Knowledge:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Squad Scrum Master.
• Knowledge of agile reporting and follow-up tools (e.g., Rally).
• Sound knowledge of software development methodology.
• Sound knowledge of project management methodology.
• Understanding of tooling on automated unit testing, automated functional testing, and continuous integration tooling.
• Proven on-the-field delivery experience.
• Knowledge of agile methodology and techniques (e.g., Kanban) is preferable.
