Senior OpenShift Administrator (Bare Metal Focus)

For a client we are seeking a Senior OpenShift Administrator with over 8 years of experience. The position is located in Zuid-Holland, with a preferred start date of July 1, 2026, and an end date of June 30, 2027. This is a full-time role with a hybrid work model, requiring 2 days on-site per week. The working language is English.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior OpenShift Administrator with strong hands-on experience in bare metal environments, automation, and platform lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, deploying, and operating highly available OpenShift clusters, focusing on reliability, scalability, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bare Metal OpenShift Deployments:
  • Design and build OpenShift clusters on bare metal infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain highly available and resilient BM cluster architectures.
  • Collaborate with network, storage, and hardware teams during deployments.
• Cluster Lifecycle Management:
  • Manage full lifecycle: installation, upgrades, patching, scaling, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure cluster health, performance, and compliance.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code:
  • Reduce manual intervention through scripting and drive automation.
  • Standardize cluster builds and operational procedures.
• Multi-Cluster Management (ACM):
  • Manage OpenShift fleets using Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM).
  • Enforce governance, policies, and configuration consistency across clusters.
• GitOps Practices:
  • Implement and manage GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD).
  • Ensure declarative configuration and version-controlled deployments.
• Storage Integration (NetApp):
  • Integrate and manage NetApp storage solutions.
  • Ensure persistent storage availability, performance, and reliability.
• Hardware Lifecycle Management:
  • Collaborate on and manage HPE hardware lifecycle.
  • Support firmware upgrades, hardware provisioning, and capacity planning.

Key Requirements:

• Technical Skills:
  • Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift (4.x) administration.
  • Proven expertise in bare metal cluster deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform), GitOps (ArgoCD / Flux), ACM, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of networking (DNS, load balancing, ingress), Linux system administration, and storage & infrastructure.
  • Experience with NetApp storage solutions and exposure to persistent volumes, CSI drivers.
  • Knowledge of HPE hardware environments and lifecycle management.
• Operational Excellence:
  • Experience in production-grade environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work across teams (platform, network, hardware).
  • Clear communication and documentation skills.
  • Proactive mindset toward automation and continuous improvement.
