Senior IT SWAT Engineer (Security Configuration & Remediation Specialist)
Position Overview:
The Senior IT SWAT Engineer will be part of the Group Cyber Centers of Excellence (CoE) and will provide expert technical support to entities to help them reduce risks and close security gaps more efficiently. The role involves delivering hands-on advisory, secure configuration guidance, vulnerability remediation support, and operational best practices across key IT technologies. The IT SWAT team provides expertise and resources to entities with limited capacity or specialist knowledge, ensuring operational ownership remains with the local IT groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vulnerability Remediation Support
- Assist IT teams in understanding and remediating vulnerabilities across various environments.
- Provide practical remediation advice for patches, configuration changes, and hardening actions.
- Validate remediation actions and confirm technical effectiveness.
- Security Configuration Advisory
- Offer secure configuration guidance for servers, endpoints, cloud platforms, and more.
- Advise on hardening baselines and secure build standards.
- Support entities in correcting misconfigurations.
- Technical Best Practices for IT Operations
- Advise on secure operational practices, including patching and access control.
- Help embed security into day-to-day IT operations.
- Share reusable patterns and playbooks across entities.
- Incident & Urgent Exposure Support
- Support urgent remediation actions for critical exposures or security incidents.
- Provide technical guidance during emergency patching or high-risk configuration changes.
- Entity Enablement & Knowledge Transfer
- Coach local IT teams for independent management of similar issues.
- Deliver practical workshops and document repeatable remediation patterns.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring technical weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Support the maturity evolution from reactive fixing to proactive secure operations.
Key Deliverables:
- Technical remediation guidance.
- Secure configuration recommendations.
- Remediation playbooks and checklists.
- Validation input after remediation.
- Lessons learned and recurring weakness reports.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience in IT operations, infrastructure engineering, or security engineering.
- Practical experience with vulnerability remediation and secure configuration.
- Good understanding of enterprise technologies such as Windows/Linux servers, cloud platforms, and networking.
