SAP S/4HANA Authorizations Consultant

For a client we are seeking a Senior SAP S/4HANA Authorizations Consultant.
Location:
Gent, Hybrid (60% on-site required)
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Senior SAP S/4HANA Authorizations Consultant to enhance and stabilize our SAP security and access management function during a critical transformation phase. The role focuses on addressing structural capacity gaps, improving governance maturity, and increasing design and testing quality in a high-demand S/4 environment. You will play a key role in reducing audit risk, improving role design quality, and enabling scalable access management aligned with S/4HANA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Role Design & Quality Improvement
- Design and refine business roles aligned with S/4HANA best practices.
- Ensure high-quality authorization baseline early in project phases.
- Maintain and improve role documentation (Fiori & GUI).
- Support stabilization of immature S/4 role models requiring ongoing tuning.
- Governance & Operating Model Implementation
- Extend and enforce end-to-end access governance and ownership model.
- Ensure clear ownership for roles, approvals, and access reviews.
- Define and roll out standard role catalogue and governance framework.
- Support and extend risk-based and ownership-driven access reviews.
- Process Standardisation & Efficiency
- Drive implementation of a single access request channel and harmonized workflow for projects.
- Simplify and streamline complex, multi-party approval chains.
- Reduce operational inefficiencies caused by fragmented processes and tooling.
- Align processes across SAP GUI and Fiori access.
- Testing, Cutover & Project Support
- Enforce strict authorization testing under realistic conditions during SIT/UAT.
- Improve SIT/UAT readiness and test quality.
- Ensure cutover and hypercare authorizations are prepared in advance.
- Support projects in reducing late-stage changes and rework cycles.
- Act as SAP Security SME during go-lives and hypercare phases.
- Tooling & Automation Enablement
- Rationalize and align disconnected service management tools.
- Help to extend and enhance the use of user access and GRC tools.
- Support introduction of automation in access provisioning and reviews.
- Improve reporting and monitoring for roles, access, and compliance.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Core Expertise
- 7+ years of SAP Authorizations / Security experience.
- Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA authorizations (Fiori + GUI).
- Strong background in role design & build, SU24 / SU25, PFCG, AGR tables, Fiori catalogues, groups, and spaces/pages.
- Experience with SoD / SOX controls and audit processes.
- Functional & Governance Skills
- Experience implementing IAM / access governance models.
- Strong understanding of access lifecycle, risk-based access reviews, role catalogues, and ownership models.
- Project & Delivery Experience
- Hands-on involvement in S/4 transformation programs, testing cycles (SIT/UAT) with business roles, cutover, and hypercare support.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with IAM and GRC-tools.
- Familiarity with SuccessFactors integration and HR-driven provisioning.
- Experience working in complex multi-vendor environments.
