Job description:
As a member of the Infrastructure Support team, the Linux System Administrator is responsible for analyzing, implementing and supporting solutions related to the infrastructure, management and security of Linux systems within data center environments. (physical and/or virtualized) and their associated network configurations, as well as Linux (Ubuntu) workstations when required.
Responsibilities:
Administer, configure and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and related Linux environments.
Ensure the availability, performance and security of systems and applications.
Apply updates, patches and hardening procedures.
Supervise system resources, scheduled tasks, and batch processes.
Manage backups, restores, and related checks.
Provide level 2 and 3 support for Linux infrastructure incidents.
Analyze, diagnose and resolve technical incidents.
Participate in the improvement of tools, scripts and operating processes.
Write and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
Participate in infrastructure projects and technical developments.
Collaborate with internal teams and ensure knowledge transfer.
Skill Requirements:
Linux system administration, with ability to handle common incidents independently and escalate complex issues.
Good knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8+ or equivalent): administration, configuration and maintenance.
Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, connectivity diagnostics).
Working knowledge of at least one virtualized, containerized or cloud environment.
Experience or knowledge in automation via Ansible (YAML).
Knowledge of scripting: Shell (Bash) required, Python or SQL is a plus.
Knowledge of backup and restoration mechanisms.
Basic knowledge of system security (access, SSL certificates, firewall).
Understanding ITIL processes (Incident, Request, Change).
Ability to work in a team and in a structured environment.
Familiarity with application development environments and understanding how applications work in relation to infrastructure.
Good documentation skills.
French or Dutch, and professional English.
Motivation, rigor, curiosity and willingness to learn.
Skills appreciated:
Knowledge or experience with OpenShift / Kubernetes or cloud platforms.
Knowledge of Linux fleet management tools (e.g. Red Hat Satellite).
Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix).
Knowledge of web servers and reverse proxy (Nginx, Apache).
Additional network knowledge (network flows, load balancing, proxy, etc.)
Experience with virtualized environments (VMware or equivalent).
Experience with source code management tools (Git) in a collaborative context.
Experience with backup tools (Commvault, Carbonite, ...).
Database concepts (PostgreSQL or other).
Microsoft environment basics (Windows Server, Active Directory).
