Azure Platform Engineer
Location: Vlaams-Brabant
Contract Duration: ASAP until the end of 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027.
Role Summary:
The Azure Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, automating, and operating the Microsoft Azure platform. A strong emphasis on cloud security, identity, governance, and compliance is expected. The Azure Platform Engineer will report to the Data Platform Lead and work closely with the IT Operations team, the Information Security Officer, and the SOC partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Platform, Infrastructure & Automation:
- Design, deploy, and maintain Azure landing zones, subscriptions, management groups, resource groups, networking components, and core platform services.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep templates.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines for platform deployments and infrastructure changes.
- Security, Governance & Operations:
- Implement Azure governance using Azure Policy, Management Groups, RBAC, and resource tagging standards.
- Support cloud security initiatives across identity, key management, network security, and compliance with internal policies and security frameworks.
- Perform regular platform reviews and remediation activities.
- Manage monitoring, alerting, observability, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools.
- Optimize platform performance, reliability, disaster recovery, and business continuity readiness.
- Cost Management, Collaboration & Enablement:
- Monitor Azure spend, identify optimization opportunities, and assist teams in selecting cost-effective cloud architectures.
- Provide technical guidance, platform best practices, documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in architecture reviews.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services, cloud architecture, networking, security, storage, monitoring, and identity services.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including identity and access management, least privilege, network segmentation, encryption, vulnerability management, and secure-by-design platform patterns.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and Bicep).
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows administration, with scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Practical experience with Azure security and governance capabilities, including Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, network security, Zero Trust principles, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks.
