Mainframe Developer 

As a Mainframe Developer, you will play a key role in enabling the controlled migration of a critical ADABAS/Natural environment running on BS2000 towards a modern Linux platform. The focus of the assignment is on data extraction, transformation, replication, synchronization, and validation, ensuring that both environments can temporarily operate in parallel without disrupting existing business processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legacy specialist who enjoys working in complex technical environments and contributing to large-scale modernization initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing BS2000, Natural and ADABAS applications and data structures.
  • Develop technical components for data extraction and transformation.
  • Build and support data replication and synchronization mechanisms between the mainframe and Linux environments.
  • Ensure reliable and accurate data migration while maintaining business continuity.
  • Perform technical testing and validation of migrated data.
  • Execute reconciliation activities between source and target systems.
  • Detect and resolve missing, duplicate or incorrectly transformed records.
  • Document technical analyses, developments, mappings, testing activities and implementation decisions.
  • Work closely with technical stakeholders in a multidisciplinary team.

Required Skills

Mandatory

  • Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer.
  • Strong experience with Natural for BS2000 (v8.2.7 or higher).
  • Strong knowledge of ADABAS for BS2000 (v8.2 or higher).
  • Experience with BS2000 utilities, including:
    • SDF
    • JCL
    • EDT
    • LMS
  • Experience analysing legacy applications and technical data flows.
  • Experience with technical testing and validation.
  • Microsoft Office 365.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with:
    • Data replication
    • Data transformation
    • Data reconciliation
  • Experience supporting legacy modernization or migration projects.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.

Project Details

  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: Initial assignment until the end of the year, with the possibility of extension.
  • Workload: Full-time (40 hours/week).
  • Location: Brussels, Belgium.
  • Hybrid model: Minimum 2 days onsite per week; remote work within Belgium for the remaining days in agreement with the team.
  • Languages: Dutch or French, plus English.
