Azure Engineer 

Position Details

Initial 6-month contract (until end of 2026, with a strong possibility of extension depending on business needs and platform evolution).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical owner and coordinator of the platform architecture.
  • Ensure alignment between all infrastructure teams while driving the platform roadmap and adoption of new Azure AI capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the AI Engineering team to understand platform requirements and developer pain points.
  • Explore and experiment with new Azure AI Foundry features and services.
  • Build PoCs and prototypes to validate technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with Cloud, Security, DevOps, Integration (APIM), and Enterprise Architecture teams.
  • Work with Microsoft to understand upcoming Azure capabilities and product roadmaps.
  • Manage the technical backlog for the platform.
  • Define and document platform architecture, integration patterns, network topology, and technical decisions.
  • Support CI/CD, automation, developer tooling, and platform improvements.
  • Act as the technical "glue" between teams and help remove blockers through influence and technical expertise.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, but capability and learning ability are emphasized over years of experience.
  • Hands-on Azure experience.
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking, Entra ID / Azure Active Directory, and Identity & Access Management.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or Bicep) and CI/CD (Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions).
  • Cloud infrastructure background and strong understanding of enterprise environments.
  • Ability to perform technical investigations and prototyping independently.
  • Good knowledge of DevOps concepts and general understanding of API Management (APIM).
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence rather than impose decisions.
  • Comfortable working with Security, Cloud, Architecture, and DevOps teams.
  • Curious, proactive, and highly autonomous.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and hands-on attitude.

Ideal Candidate

  • Comes from an Infrastructure / Cloud / DevOps background.
  • Has worked in consulting or multiple environments.
  • Has broad exposure to many technologies.
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys learning new technologies.
  • Can quickly prototype and validate solutions.
  • Understands enterprise networking and identity management.
  • Has the political and communication skills required to align different teams and drive consensus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, and Azure API Management.
  • Architecture documentation and Architecture Decision Records (ADR).
  • Experience with Databricks, Boomi, AI platforms, and LLM-based applications.
  • AWS or GCP background is acceptable if the candidate can quickly transition to Azure.
  • Exposure to enterprise architecture practices.

Language Requirements

  • English: Mandatory
  • French and/or Dutch are a plus but not required.

Homeworking Policy

  • Flexible hybrid setup with approximately 2 days/week onsite.
  • Presence onsite is important due to the large number of stakeholders involved.

Full Time

  • Preferred: 5 days/week
  • Possible: 4 days/week may also be accepted for the right candidate.
