Frontend Developer React & UX

Job Title: Frontend Developer React & UX

Start Date: 01/10/2026

End Date: 31/03/2027 (with an option for extension)

Location: Antwerp (3 days per week on-site, non-negotiable)

Language Requirements: Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)

Role Overview:

We are looking for a senior frontend consultant to enhance our capacity in the user interface layer. You will be responsible for setting frontend patterns as we transition our design system. Your focus will be on components, state, interaction, and performance, ensuring that the user experience is seamless and efficient.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop user-facing features in React and TypeScript, ensuring components are robust under real-world conditions.
  • Translate design concepts into functional products, collaborating with UX from initial sketches.
  • Optimize perceived performance on data-heavy screens, focusing on bundle size, render behavior, and caching.
  • Contribute to the shared design system by integrating components and patterns into the UI library.
  • Extend backend-for-frontend capabilities by adjusting ASP.NET Core API endpoints as needed.
  • Maintain tests alongside product code using Vitest and Testing Library, ensuring continuous integration and delivery.
  • Utilize analytics and telemetry to inform iterative improvements based on actual user behavior.
  • Leverage AI tools in daily tasks and contribute to the team's AI strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building and maintaining web applications with a history of real users and constraints.
  • Several years of hands-on experience with React and TypeScript at a senior level, with expertise in component design, state management, and data fetching.
  • Strong UX and UI sensibility, with the ability to discern and implement high-quality design.
  • Proficiency in modern frontend engineering practices, including component libraries and design tokens.
  • Commitment to accessibility and responsive design as integral parts of development.
  • Competence in backend tasks, such as consuming and designing REST APIs and modifying endpoints in C# / ASP.NET Core.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and the ability to challenge specifications constructively.
  • Fluency in AI tools and the ability to critically assess their outputs.
  • Fluent in English; on-site presence in Antwerp required three days per week.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with agentic AI and AI-assisted interactions.
  • Experience in building or maintaining a shared design system or component library.
  • Familiarity with data-heavy interfaces, including charting, maps, and real-time updates.
  • Experience with product analytics, experimentation, and using data to drive decisions.
  • Experience working on localized products across multiple languages and markets.
  • Understanding of connected physical devices and their representation in UI.
