Service Description:
The IT-TI Data & App Support department is looking for an Application Support Engineer. The candidate will be part of the Data and Application Support team, responsible for deploying all in-house developed applications running in Acceptance & Production. The team also manages some core shared applications and middleware to support those applications, such as Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and RabbitMQ. Some deployment environments have stringent security constraints, requiring the candidate to have a working knowledge of authentication, authorization, firewalls, and deep security. As more applications are being deployed on Linux servers, the team needs to expand its knowledge to both Windows and Linux deployment. Team members are also responsible for the validation and execution of Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) and are involved in Business Continuity plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operational tasks, including deploying and updating all in-house developed applications in acceptance & production environments (mostly Windows IIS & SQL based).
- Assist with application server architecture for the deployment of new applications: analyze requirements, assist with the design, and set up/deploy the application in acceptance and production environments.
- Contribute to and validate the technical and infrastructure parts of DRP and BCP documents, as well as being involved in their execution.
- Interface with (mainly IT) clients.
- Provide second-line troubleshooting of issues.
- Configure F5 load balancing VIPs for web applications.
- Support implementations on core applications: RabbitMQ, Redis Cache, and other shared technologies – knowledge of these products is a plus.
- Ensure optimal 2nd/3rd level support (interface to Microsoft and other 3rd parties).
- Keep operating and installation documentation for the above areas up to date.
- Be part of the duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks) in this team.
Requirements:
- Fluent in English and French or Dutch. English is mandatory for documents and international meetings; German is a plus.
- Proven recent experience in supporting applications on Linux RedHat (deploy an application, verify logs, monitor health and performance of a system, create scripts).
- Proven recent expert experience with Windows Server (2012-2022).
- Proven knowledge of IIS management and website deployments.
- Knowledge of PowerShell.
- Knowledge of MS-SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, NEO4J, or Redis Cache is a plus (on-the-job coaching/training as an operator will be provided for missing knowledge).
- Understanding of firewalls and network load balancing concepts (product knowledge will be provided).
- Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Team player, but able to work independently.
- Analytical skills for troubleshooting work.
- Pragmatic mindset and customer-oriented.
- Must be able and eager to learn new products or technologies (if not all of the above technologies are known, it is expected to learn them within a year maximum).
- Must have a driver’s license and a mobile phone for the duty role.
Additional Information:
- Telework: Remote work policy is applicable to the delivery of the service. By default, a physical presence on-site is required for 2 days per week.
- Must be available for duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks).
- Must have a driver's license and car (required for the duty role) and a mobile phone.
- Standby: After the training period, the consultant will be assigned to standby duties as agreed in advance with the manager. While on standby, the consultant is not actively working but must remain reachable and ready to respond if needed. The consultant may stay at home or elsewhere, provided they can respond promptly and intervene using their laptop. If necessary, the consultant will return to the site during the standby period to perform the intervention. The consultant must be available and able to act immediately if contacted. Standby periods will be scheduled and agreed upon beforehand.
