Product Owner Employee Benefits

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: 28/02/2027 (6 months – extension possible)

Location: Brussel-Hoofdstad

Work Regime: Full-time, 2-3 days on-site

Languages Required: Dutch, French, English

Role Overview:

As a Product Owner Employee Benefits, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the Employee Benefits strategy. You will represent the business for key products and processes within the Employee Benefits domain, acting as a bridge between business and IT. The focus is on 2nd pillar/group insurances, including pension, disability, and death cover solutions offered by employers to their employees. You will work on products, services, and digital journeys supporting employers, brokers, and affiliates (insured members).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate the vision, roadmap, and priorities for key products and processes within the Employee Benefits product(s).
  • Identify opportunities to improve and digitalize customer, partner, and employee journeys.
  • Translate business needs, customer feedback, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives into clear features, epics, and user stories.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value and customer impact.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, Agile teams, architects, Domain Leads, and other Product Owners.
  • Work with product developers, operations teams, customer service teams, distribution partners, and portfolio managers to shape and deliver solutions.
  • Support Agile ceremonies such as PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Validate delivered solutions and ensure they meet business requirements and expected customer outcomes.
  • Coordinate dependencies across teams and facilitate collaboration between all stakeholders involved.
  • Contribute actively to transformation initiatives and digitalization projects that support the Employee Benefits strategy.
  • Monitor market trends, customer expectations, and technological developments and translate them into improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure sufficient alignment with business stakeholders and manage expectations transparently.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong business knowledge of Employee Benefits, 2nd pillar/group insurance is essential.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in product ownership, digital transformation, customer journey redesign, project management, or business transformation.
  • Experience managing initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset and end-to-end thinking.
  • Autonomous, hands-on, and results-driven.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance long-term vision with short-term delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, ideally within a SAFe framework.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
  • Enthusiastic team player who can bring people along in change.
