Operations Engineer 

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 3 months with the possibility of extension

Location: Brussel (2 days onsite)

Languages Required: Dutch, French, English

Project/Context Situation:

The Hybrid Platform Operations Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing hybrid infrastructure across on-premises Linux and Windows platforms and Microsoft Azure. The role ensures platform stability, security, and operational excellence through automation and standardization. The engineer will act as a liaison between operations, architects, security teams, and application owners, translating business and technical requirements into scalable platform solutions. All Azure resources and configurations must be deployed and managed exclusively through Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and support hybrid infrastructure across on-premises Linux, Windows, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), ensuring all Azure resources are fully automated and version-controlled.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, security, and availability while performing troubleshooting, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects, security teams, DevOps teams, and application owners to deliver reliable and scalable platform services.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and operational tooling to reduce manual effort and improve platform consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, backup, disaster recovery, and operational standards across the hybrid environment.
  • Manage hybrid networking, connectivity, identity integration, and platform services between on-premises datacenters and Azure.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, documentation, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support incidents, problems, changes, and service requests while maintaining agreed service levels.
  • Enforce the principle that all Azure deployments and modifications are performed through Terraform and approved deployment pipelines, with no manual changes permitted.
  • Manage Azure RBAC, privileged access, and identity governance controls.

Technical Skills (Must have knowledge):

  • Cloud & Infrastructure (Azure, Windows & Linux)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Primary focus on languages Terraform, YAML, and JSON)
  • Cloud Networking (Azure VWAN, ExpressRoute)
