As a Functional Analyst in the Analyses Chapter you are joining a team of highly talented and motivated analysts in the domain of Operational Planning & Competencies. This domain designs and delivers the IT solutions for the planning and competency management of our resources. Think about train drivers, train managers, stations personel… and many more…
You will work in the project “GPRI” which will create a new software for qualification and certification management of train drivers.
You will be the key player in a three steps process, from translations of business demand over functional analyses into clear and specific technical deliverables.
In this role, you will have the direct opportunity to shape the project outputs and help us deliver increasingly better services.

You are a self-starter who will structure, review and prioritize the different requirements by different stakeholders.
Quality is an important element of your work. As functional analyst you will ensure full coverage of the business demand. A thourough understanding of the agreed scope will lead you to precise, well understood and confirmed technical specifications.
To be a trustworthy partner you not only aim for increasingly short delivery times, you also deliver as planned and are able to adapt to approved changes. Breaking down the work in smaller packages and estimating the remaining work at every level and for the entire project at all time will be a key activity.
You are involved throughout the entire project life cycle and will deliver different outputs. You are pepared to pickup activities outside your responability area to help the project.

A functional analyst in software development projects needs a diverse set of skills to effectively bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions. We expect you to excel in as many of the following competencies as possible.
· Analytical and Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex data and systems to identify issues and opportunities.
· Holistic Understanding: Allows you to see the big picture, understanding how different components of the project fit together.
· Technical Knowledge: Understanding of IT and computer science principles, including clould technology, architectureal designs, knowledge of data warehousing, SQL… and advanced Excel capabilities.
· Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Familiarity with the stages of software development and methodologies like Agile and Scrum.
· Requirements Gathering and Documentation: Proficiency in eliciting, documenting, and managing requirements.
· Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
· Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well within a team, often involving cross-functional collaboration.
· Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying problems and developing practical solutions.
· Project Management: Skills in planning, organizing, and managing activities and resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

Belangrijk
- Advanced experience in managing backlogs and analyses in Jira/Confluence
- Experience as product owner is appreciated.
- You have 4+ years of experience as functional analyst in software development, preferably as member of scrum teams
- You have a strong understanding of IT systems and software
- Can work onsite (Brussels) min 2x/week
- You possess professional proficiency in Dutch, French as well as in English
- Knowledge of and experience with BPMN, UML
