Description:
We are looking for an exceptional individual to join as a DevOps - Data Platform Engineer within the Observability and Analytics Cluster of the Tooling Services organization. As a DevOps/SRE Engineer, you will be part of a dedicated team operating and expanding the usage of our Service Observability Platform. You will collaborate with delivery teams globally, drive Operational Excellence, and make a substantial impact in our rapidly evolving organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, providing technical assistance and facilitating knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to the squad's roadmap through industry-leading engineering practices.
- Apply DevOps expertise to enhance system availability, resiliency, stability, reliability, and self-service capabilities of the Observability Platform.
- Optimize infrastructure performance, addressing telemetry data challenges, leveraging Ansible for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and managing bare metal, virtualized environments, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Elastic Stack (ELK).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Medium to senior-level experience in Data Engineering with a strong DevOps focus.
- Hands-on expertise with Jenkins, Git, and Ansible for CI/CD and automation.
- Proven experience operating and managing the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
- Knowledge or affinity with Elastic Agent, Fleet, APM, ML, SIEM products is a plus.
- Experience with Kafka ecosystem components (KStream, KSQLDB, KConnect).
- Proficiency in OpenShift/Kubernetes deployments.
- Programming skills in Java or Python.
- Solid background in managing large on-premises infrastructures, including compute, storage, and networking.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
- Experience in data engineering, including building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes using ELK stack (ELK data engineer certification is a plus).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with remote teams across various time zones.
- Degree in Computing Science or equivalent professional experience.
Good to Have:
- Familiarity with the OpenTelemetry standard.
- Knowledge of UML and C4 model for system design.
- Foundational knowledge in Machine Learning (ML).
