Functional Analyst / Solution Designer

Mission:

The Functional Analyst plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and IT solutions. Responsibilities include analyzing business processes, eliciting and documenting requirements, and translating them into functional specifications. The role involves designing system features, overseeing implementation, and validating system performance and output against business needs. The successful candidate will guide developers and inform stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration of technology with business strategy. Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a collaborative spirit are essential.

Department Overview:

The IT team is responsible for driving application development and maintenance, adhering to Agile principles and practices. The team supports a wide variety of applications, both on-premises and SaaS, and is responsible for the technology stack that supports wholesale transactions, balancing services, and hedging operations. The team has established internal OutSystems expertise in a Scrum team responsible for integrations and low-code.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare Objectives and support the Solution Architect and Business Engagement Team during intake.
• Shape the roadmap and provide estimations based on business requirements and prioritization.
• Analyze user requirements to build optimal solutions.
• Evaluate the feasibility of solutions, considering affordability, fit-for-purpose, and value for money.
• Manage a network of diverse stakeholders, capturing and consolidating their requirements.
• Support Architects in high-level impact analysis and roadmap development.
• Define epics, features, user stories, tasks, subtasks, and bugs with clear acceptance criteria.
• Support developers during component building and validate their work.
• Guide sprint demos, capture feedback, and balance delivery goals.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Analysts, and Developers for technical design.
• Test developed components and automate test cases where possible.
• Document necessary information and perform handovers to operational teams.
• Stay involved in continuous improvement requests and support tickets.
• Ensure smooth user acceptance testing and support Release Management.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for incidents, problems, and changes.
• Assist the Product Owner in managing the Backlog and refining user stories.
• Participate in Scrum Events and maintain Scrum Artifacts.
• Collaborate with different teams and departments to create value.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in functional analysis, preferably in .Net.
• Proficiency in UML for explaining and visualizing data flows.
• Hands-on experience in testing (functional and technical via SQL/REST).
• Experience in stakeholder management and reading  requirement documents.
• Expertise in team delivery follow-up using Jira.
• Strong communication skills for engaging stakeholders through storytelling and presentations.
• Critical thinking for process improvement and creativity.
• Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a plus.
• Strong team player with the ability to work autonomously.
