Role Overview

As a Senior Java Solution / Application Architect, you will play a key role in the creation of new IT applications and components, from the initial business needs and architecture definition through to delivery and acceptance.

You will be involved throughout the full lifecycle of the solution, ensuring that the architecture is coherent, scalable, aligned with enterprise principles, and fit for both business and technical requirements.

This role requires strong expertise in Java application architecture, system integration, data architecture, design patterns, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Play a leading role in the design and creation of new IT applications and software components.
• Be involved from the definition of business needs through to solution delivery.
• Produce and maintain the supporting technical and architectural documentation.
• Perform detailed needs analyses and work closely with stakeholders to identify appropriate solutions.
• Design solution architectures and maintain continuous communication with multiple internal and external partners.
• Provide technical expertise in the development, operationalization, and improvement of:
  • processes
  • data
  • applications
  • IT services
• Manage the architecture of projects end-to-end, from business case requirements to acceptance testing and delivery.
• Use the appropriate models, methods, and standards to map architectures and support the design of new systems.
• Ensure that proposed designs are aligned with architectural principles and fit within the broader enterprise architecture.
• Support service managers, network administrators, and system administrators in solving complex technical challenges.
• Keep up to date with technology and architecture trends to identify new opportunities aligned with organizational needs.
• Actively participate in the architecture community and governance structures that safeguard architecture quality.

Technical Requirements

We are looking for a senior architect with strong expertise in the following domains:

Core Architecture & Development

• Strong knowledge of Java application architecture
• Strong experience with Spring Boot
• Knowledge of data architecture
• Good understanding of application communication techniques / system integration
• Very strong knowledge of design patterns
• Experience in creating UML architecture diagrams
• Familiarity with web application interface design

Nice to Have / Additional Assets

Depending on the profile or project scope, experience in the following can be considered a plus:

• Python
• UI / frontend-related knowledge
• BI / reporting-related knowledge

• Good knowledge of English
• Good command of Dutch or French
  (knowledge of at least one national language is required)
