We are currently looking for an experienced Functional Analyst for a long-term assignment in Brussels, with a hybrid working model.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating business needs into clear functional requirements, working closely with both business and technical teams, and helping ensure that IT solutions meet organizational needs.

Role Overview

As a Functional Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying and defining user needs, translating them into clear functional requirements, and supporting the preparation and successful delivery of IT projects.

You will work closely with business analysts, project managers, developers, and testers, acting as a bridge between business expectations and technical implementation.

This role combines functional analysis, documentation, workshop facilitation, and quality validation in a structured and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform functional analyses to identify and define user needs.
• Translate business needs into clear requirements for technical teams and project managers.
• Collaborate with business analysts and project managers in the preparation of IT projects.
• Test and evaluate the results of IT applications to ensure they meet the organization’s requirements and expectations.
• Produce and maintain technical and functional documentation to guide development and testing teams.
• Clearly describe both existing and target processes, including methodology and business needs synthesis.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of solutions by ensuring that requirements are properly understood and documented.

Technical / Functional Requirements

We are looking for a profile with strong analytical and documentation skills, and experience in the following areas:

Functional Analysis & Documentation

• Ability to clearly describe and document:
  • Functional Architecture
  • Use Cases
  • Data Models
  • Functional Requirements
• Experience translating business needs into structured documentation for technical teams

Methodologies & Modeling

• Good knowledge of:
  • UML
  • BPMN
• At least a basic understanding of:
  • testing methodologies
  • Agile development practices

Collaboration & Delivery

• Experience facilitating or leading workshops
• Experience supporting the management or delivery of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product)

Nice to Have

Depending on the project or profile, knowledge in one or more of the following is considered a plus:

• Python
• UI / frontend-related knowledge
• BI / reporting-related knowledge

• You are comfortable working between business stakeholders and technical teams.
• You are able to structure complex needs into clear and actionable requirements.
• You are detail-oriented and quality-driven, with an eye for both business needs and solution fit.
• You enjoy facilitating discussions and aligning stakeholders through workshops and collaborative sessions.

Methodology

• Knowledge of Agile Scrum is required
• Experience as a Scrum Master is considered a plus

• Good knowledge of English is required
• Knowledge of Dutch or French is recommended

Experience in a large and structured enterprise or public-sector environment is considered a plus.
