SOA Architect 

Start Date: January 2026

Duration: 1 year with an option to extend

Location: Brussels (2 days per week on-site or more depending on team or customer needs)

Job Description:

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in this role or in an equivalent position

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Development skills in Java or other programming languages
• Familiarity with WS standards (SOAP, WSDL, WS security)
• Understanding of API standards (OAuth2, Swagger, JWT)
• Knowledge of SOA and API principles, including loose coupling architecture and microservices
• Proficiency in SOA Design Patterns and Enterprise Integration Patterns
• Understanding of REST principles
• Ability to interpret XML/JSON transformations
• Strong technical writing skills for high-quality documentation
• Knowledge of messaging models (e.g., publish–subscribe)
• Familiarity with testing methodologies
• Proficiency in UML and BPMN
• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Knowledge of scripting languages
• Familiarity with development methodologies such as Enterprise Unified Process, Rational Unified Process, Scrum, and Kanban
• Understanding of project methodologies like PMBOK and PRINCE2
• Knowledge of ITIL processes
• Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
• Best practices related to interoperability
• Experience with tools and technologies like Oracle Service Bus, OBTM, Axway, WebLogic integrations, and DataPower
• Proficiency with web service editors (such as Eclipse) and XML editors
• Experience with source management and version control using GIT
• Familiarity with web service testing tools (SOAPUI, ReadyAPI, Postman)
• Knowledge of various client frameworks (Axis2, CXF, .NET, JAX-WS RI, Rampart)
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Mural, Miro
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Hudson, and ELK stack
• Hands-on experience with web services (WSDL, SOAP, XML, XSD, XQuery, XPath, XSLT)
• Experience with the full lifecycle of a web application in a service-oriented architecture
• Experience working in a Scrum sprint cycle

Language Proficiency:

Excellent communication skills in at least one of the two national languages (French or Dutch), as well as in English.
